Knol is a Google project which was created to include user-written articles on a range of different topics. It is a great place to post your articles with links back to your own blog and/or affiliate pages.
Google Knol is a little bit different than your other article sites such as Squidooo, HubPages, and Helium because unfortunately for them Knol is obviously owned by Google. What does that mean you say? Well, it means that Google Knol pages are easier to find on the Google search engines. That means more traffic if you write good, informative articles on popular niches.
Google Knol lets you write your own articles, take credit for them, and even put adsense on your article page. That combined with lots of Google traffic is a great recipe for massive traffic to your own blog or site.
Some Tips On Creating Great Knol Articles
Length – Some sites may tell you that “long, detailed articles are the way to go, but I think that very long articles are unnecessary because most of the time, the readers will losetheir interest fairly quick. It is better to write short, informative ones that are to the point.
Tone - Knols aren’t blog posts so you should avoid the informal conversational style that common in blog entries. Use a more formal tone. Think of your knol as a statement more than as an ongoing conversation.
Images - Images are an important part of your Knol article. Articles with images always receive more attention and give you more potential for link backs to your article from other sites, blogs, and similar articles.
Link Back – Always link back to your personal blog if it’s relevant to the article. This just helps your site get more exposure of course.
Remember to:
- Provide references, ask for reviews and display your credentials
- Focus on communicating clearly
- Voice your opinion
- Bring your topic to life by inserting relevant images

I don’t really agree with this phrase “it means that Google Knol pages are easier to find on the Google search engines.”
I seldom see Knol pages in the 1st two pages in Google search rankings. Any keywords to prove that claim? Maybe I am wrong.
Yes, it’s good for building credibility and backlinks though.

I must agree here, being Google owned means nothing in the SERPS…Blogger blogs proved that in spades.

Have you found any knols where this is actually true? I mean that the links are do-followed?
Reply to this comment
the only real way to find out if it’s Do follow or not is if you sign up and post your content and see for yourself if it is dofollow or not.

Hey Ben,
I may have heard about Google Knol once way back when, but I never really knew what it was about until I read your post. This seems to be a really good resource for article marketers. Can you get good results if you post articles you’ve already written? This is something I’ll definitely have to check out and hopefully get more traffic to my site and blog. Thanks!

I have seen knol before and I think it cool cause like you said it is more of an informative statement than conversation. And I wont lie, I get bored easily.
