How I Gained 14,000 Inbound Links Within Weeks
on 8 December 2008 - 1,877 viewsI was bloghopping recently and found many bloggers sharing ideas on how they get gain backlinks fast. Here are some of those that I found:
1. Peter Lee’s - How Blog Commenting Got Me 1200 Backlinks in 5 Days
2. Yan’s - The Best Places To Get Quality Backlink
You may notice that most of them talks about getting a large number of backlinks in a short span of time by commenting on blogs only. In case you get the wrong idea, the backlinks we are discussing here are from yahoo. Well no doubt about it, this is one great method and idea which I strongly advocate when you are looking to build up your backlinks and also your Technorati Authority. I shall not elaborate further on this point since there are already so many posts on it and you can visit the links above to find out more. They both shared quite a good view on it.
Now I will get into the other things that I have done to build up backlink fast. The reason why I do not focus on blog commenting only is because there is only so much you can do with it.
1. Give And You Will Receive
Sponsor a contest! Especially popular contests… This way you get backlinks to your blog when other bloggers blog about the contest and mentioning your name as part of the sponsors. This is kind of a no brainer because all of you have to do is to come out with something like an ebook or an ad spot on your blog and let the contest organiser know you are interested to sponsor a prize. It is a win-win situation, so who will reject you? They get a sponsored prize and you get backlinks!
2. Give More And You Will Receive Even More
Provide a service free of charge for your readers. A good example would be a free banner design that I am giving away as a christmas gift to my readers. You may find out more here - Pei Profit Dot Com Christmas Giveaway. The logic is simple, I will design banner free of charge according to the specification my readers gave me and I ask for a link back to the post or blog as a favour in return. Your readers may have gained more in terms of value but heck it since you are only looking to build your backlinks and you establish yourself a professional in your field. Just be creative and be a resource to your readers!
3. Be Active On Forums With DoFollow Signatures - Thats it!
4. Sponsor Or Create Your Own WordPress Theme
This is crazy way to build backlinks! You will see your number of backlinks grow like crazy if you’re lucky. What do I mean by if you are lucky? There are circumstances whereby you pay a couple hundred bucks to sponsor a wordpress theme and the naughty blogger downloads and removes your link on the footer. That is why it ranks third on my list because it may not be as practical at times. So, to risk or not to risk? Thats your choice!
Some other backlink methods that I am intending to experiment on:
1. Write about a site or blog that I wish to get backlinks from - I thought that this is a good idea because if you are able to write something good about a site or blog and it brings some traffic to them, they will probably link back to you. They would even throw link to your blog telling their readers how popular they are because others are writing about them. Ego!
2. Interview other bloggers. This is a win-win situation too or so I believe. When you start interviewing other bloggers, you get to learn a skill or two that you may have never heard of and the other party would probably link to your interview. It can also help to brand them as a professional in the niche, so why would anyone reject this?
I hope no one gets turned off by my suggestions here and find me a link sucker. I am not! Everyone is trying to build their reputation and backlinks so if you meet such situations like this or similar requests from me in the future, do not see it as some negative. Go ahead and experiment and only with this, the community and grow together! Just like how the economy works, if nobody spends money, the economy is going to fall. On the other hand, if everyone starts spending, everyone starts earning and the economy grows.

Outstanding ideas you have there. I have just started commenting on blogs and so far i have added over 1600 backlinks. You can acquire them very quickly if you have the right method.

Blog comments are indeed a sure-fire way of building links quickly, albeit time-consuming too. The only thing with blog links is that they tend to devalue over time, so one has to keep at it!

Ha yeah.. but it has it’s disadvantage too..
I like the fact that you are looking to get links from other sources than blog comments. While I think blog commenting is good it only makes sense to get links by various other means as well. Guest posting is also a good way to get links and it’s a win win situation for both blog owner and author.

Back links are a necessity of the game, no one would knock you for that and hence the litmus test is you are successful at what you do period.

Congratulation on getting to the first page on a competitive key word , but If you get there through giving away free Wordpress themes I think you will lose the position in a while because Google usually frowns upon that method.
Yeah sponsoring wordpress theme is just an idea. Not on top of the list.

Commenting definitely builds lots of backlinks, if you have the time to make quality comments everywhere you go. Not reading the post through and making short, meaningless quips will lead to your comment not being approved, and maybe even marked as spam in their system, so you have to take the time and make an informative addition to the post.

It is hard to build backlinks with just commenting, active in forum is must especially forum that similar niche with our site.
Yeah.. to a certain extent forum is good for driving traffic to your blog..

I bookmarked this post, because of the excellent information. Good backlinks are great, but getting them isn’t the easiest. Just my own advice, don’t put more than 1 url in any comment, more times than not, the person will mark it as spam and that’s that.

The ratio is actually quite small Ben. 9 x outa 10 when someone screams “contest suck because they all unsubscribe!” are saying it because they read 25 other bloggers also with no proof scream it.
Anyway, if you use feedburner, it’s easy enough to keep track. In the email section of your account there’s a box you can check that will notify you when an email sub unsubscribes.

I have use some of those techniques, I agree with you sponsoring a blog theme may not be as good as it seems, I have seen a lot of those guys you said. As soon as they get the theme they delete every link they see and replace them with their links. I will try to review someone else´s blog, maybe yours, lol.

14,000 inbound links within weeks? That is scary! Better not. Aren’t you afraid that Google will suspect you for spamming?
Sir, no doubt those tips revealed in your post are great ideas but most of them need an extra expertise (such as designing WP theme, writing ebook) which is rarely fit for “average” bloggers and take an extra fund too for making sponsorship. They are good idea yet not all bloggers are able to implement them all, thanks for the post anyway.

I agree that comments is great for building backlinks. I would also note that some sites will enable nofollow on comments so you can discover if they enabled this using an addon called SEO for FireFox - it is provided by SEOTools.com. Not all sites do this or they may only disable the nofollow for you if you comment a lot on their blog.

I agree with the opinion above, by providing free wordpress themes can also help us to get a backlink, but very sad when the blogger removes the link in the footer, and this is a criminal act that violates the ethical.
