Welcome to my first ever guest post on Pei Profit Dot Com and its my honour to have Peter Lee from Work At Home Blog sharing his techniques and success on using the All-In-One SEO Wordpress Plugin. I have known Peter for quite some time in the blogosphere and I never fail to visit his blog for his updates because they are so personal and insightful. Have a home business and need more tips? Want to make money blogging? Now you know which blog you should read! (Apart from mine! =P)

The All In One SEO Plugin optimizes your WordPress blog for Search Engines by letting you define your keywords, description and post title. Many bloggers like this plugin as it stops search engines from indexing any duplicate contents shown in the category and archived pages found on their blogs.

Enjoy…

If you have yet to install this plugin, I strongly suggest that you do so now and start learning how to use it and enjoy the benefits of a well optimized blog. If you already have a link building strategy for your blog or website, that’s good but this ‘All In One SEO Pack‘ is going to enhance it further, achieving better SERP result and ultimately more traffic to your blog.

How To Optimize Your Blog Post

The ‘All In One SEO Pack’ allows you to optimize all your individual blog posts:

-Keywords: the key is ‘Relevance’: You can select some relevant keywords you want to include in your keyword field. They must however reflect keywords that can be found in the post you have written. One very important thing I should mention is don’t ever practice keyword spamming or you risk being penalized by Google for keyword stuffing.

- Description: The ‘All In One SEO Pack’ allows you 160 characters for your meta description, found in the ‘Description’ field so it’s important that you put your relevant keywords and keyword phrases here. This description will show up when your post gets listed. If you don’t put this description, the search engine will extract the text from the start of your post. So there’s an opportunity for you here. Not only does it help in your SEO, it may also bring you some traffic too. I’ve read that some of these keywords may sometimes show up during people’s searches in the search engine queries. However as in all other searches, this really depends on other factors like your PR, your blog content among others.

-Titles: The Best Of Two Titles For Your Blog Post: I’ve frequently heard many bloggers complain about the difficulty of writing a well optimized blog post title. Writing it for SEO and focusing on keyword phrases, they claimed may sound a little weird at times for the readers. Well with the ‘All In One SEO Pack’, you can now write 2 post titles – one for your blog readers and the other for the search engines.

Write the first title like you would usually write your post and this title is the one being viewed by your readers. An example of my post title intended for my readers is the second one on this screen shot:

The first title on the screenshot is what I intended for the search engine to see and it would go to the ‘title’ part of the All In One Pack.

Tags or Keywords – What’s The Difference?

Frankly I’ve yet to come across a really good explanation of the difference between tags and keywords and different bloggers interpret them differently. Some say they are different but choose to focus only on tags. In my opinion, I think both are related. Search engines try to decipher what you are writing about and that’s where your keywords and keyword phrases throughout your blog post will help it determine just that. If you now add a tag similar to your main keywords you are emphasizing to the search engine, that’s one more keyword it stores in its database.

Tags may not necessarily be found in your contents too, so in general you can use tags quite freely although they should be relevant to your post. There isn’t much knowledge of how tags help in your search engine ranking although there are sites who use them for search capabilities like Technorati.

The ‘All In One SEO Pack’ is quite easy to install and many bloggers have said it’s one of the best SEO plugins they have used and highly recommend to others too. It will definitely help you see some improvement in your search engine ranking results.
