Top 10 Blogging Mistakes You Need To Avoid

Lazy To Update
It happens! Every human err, don’t we? Sometimes the lazy worm just creeps and you just don’t feel like you don’t want to see your blog again and you give excuses like you have mental block for the day, for month and for the entire year. Well, if you’re not going to update your blog on a constant basis, you’re going to lose your readers faster than you can imagine. Tell me honestly, would you be bothered to check back on a blog which last update was dated a few month back? Work around a blogging schedule that you are comfortable with, be it 1 post per week or 5 posts a day. As long as it is consistent, you’re going to up your reputation and readership quickly.

Rushing To Write Something
Sometimes you feel that you got the first hand news and you want to write something hot before others get a taste of it and you think you are going to get popular for that. You forgot to proof-read and published your article and only to realise hours later that you wrote something you didn’t want to. Your reader laughs at it and is probably going to label your blog as last on the list. So, my advice is to take your time and plan your post and lay out your ideas properly. Check and check again that you don’t make stupid mistakes that is going to make a fool out of yourself.

Blogging For Money Only
This is simple. If you see a blog that says “If you like my blog post, give me a click on my Adsense banner!”, would you? Probably not! I am pretty sure you will never ever hit that url again.

Blogging Like A News Reporter
This is a taboo my friends! Well, people can watch CNN whole day if they are only interested to learn about the news! The only reason they read blogs like yours is because they are looking for interesting opinions and thats why make every single human and blogs unique! Remember to throw your point of view and it is going to make the article more valuable. Be as personal as you can!

Not Replying To Any Comments
I have read a whole load of blogs writing about plugins that can help bring more comments and commentators. Yes, I vouch that these plugins do work wonders for that matter of fact but what good would it do if your readers or commentators are left talking to themselves? Normally, they would expect to hear your point of view especially when they ask a question in the comment. Even for those whom you think are leaving comments to get backlinks, give them the benefit of adult and just drop them a thank you message or things like that. At the very least, they give some life to your blog.

Turning Your Blog Into A Supermarket
I know you want to make as much money as you can online but DO NOT try to sell everything you can find on your blog. Otherwise, your readers could have gone to the super mart instead. If you’re running an affiliate program, pick your products wisely and focus your goal clearly on that one product first. Until you find success, only then will you branch out to other stuff.

Blogging For Google Instead Of Your Readers
SEO is definitely a constant battle for bloggers like us when it comes to fighting for good SE listings. Think again, I am sure people working at Google know what we are thinking and if you try too hard at your SEO, you are probably going to screw yourself up. Even Google wants you to blog truly for your readers, any spam in keywords will get your a** banned. White hat please… You don’t want your blog post to go like “I make money online because I want to make money online so I can continue to make money online with my friends who make money online through online money making programs.” Will you like this? If you don’t, its unlikely that Google will!

Being a Copydog
I know its tough to find a unique topic at times and you get all the mental block virus hitting at the same time. You see some topics that your neighbour blogged about and you tell yourself that you’re going to write about that too. Well, there is nothing wrong with this but I strongly believe it should be done with a limit. Try to come up with something special if you can and even simple things like asking your readers a rhetorical question or come up with some giveaways can work wonders.

Keeping Yourself In The Box
If you’re not going to reach out to the blogging world, who is going to know you? You are not interested in linking to other blogger because you think you’re helping him increase his Technorati Authority instead of yours. You don’t subscribe to a RSS Feed because you’re only helping to increase his feed count. This is quite a childish thought actually! Join the blogging communities and say hi to your friends in the blogosphere, especially bloggers of the related niches. If you can do this faithfully, you will realise that your name will spread really fast.
