If you are in the make money online field, social networks are an easy and affordable way of telling the world about yourself. The reach is wide and the networks are open to corporate messages, if written and timed well.

Here are 5 ‘Be’s you need to take note:
1. Be Social
The key thing to remember is that social networks are social. So, avoid any marketing hardsell at the start. Just as you would warm up to people at a dinner function, allow your messages to “warm up” to the audience on the network.
2. Be Yourself
One reason why Facebook has gained so much traction is because a large proportion of users are “real people”. Be prepared to share a little about yourself on these networks. Put up photos of yourself, family and friends. Add your personal friends to your online network. It puts a human face to a digital name.
3. Be Creative
Join interest groups relevant to your business or blog topic on these networks. Participate. Offer free trials or other exclusive promotions to members of these groups. Find friends you have lost touch with. Start a chat going with them and they may know someone you could link up with for your product.
4. Be Resourceful
Can’t stress point more! Spend time exploring each network. Learn more about them before you start to engage members. Each network is different. Some offer you tools to organise events, while others allow you to create profiles of you and your product. While not all of these networks will work for you and your product, take a look at how others are exploiting them and figure a path for yourself.
5. Be adventurous
Do not be afraid to experiment and try diferent ways to market your product or blog in this case, through this social networks. As long as you abide by the society’s rules – be professional and fair – and have a good product and blog to being with, others will start noticing.
If you’re really new to social networking, here are some highly recommended ones for you:

Hi Ben,
Be Social I think could be the cornerstone of any success online, since in the web “Trust” is about everything. If you want a sale, readers or any kind of support, the people need to trust you first in order to do anything that you ask.

Valuable advice! Direct pitches take the social out of social networks. It’s ok to throw them into the mix once in awhile, but the greatest asset of sites like Twitter and Facebook are building relationships that encourage the community to help each other out, purchase each other’s products, blog about industry news, etc.
