The truth is that the SEO importance of directories has decreased over the last few years but they should still be an integral part of link building for new sites. The directories that should be submitted into should be the ones that will send us traffic, have listings that will be considered editorial votes of quality by the major search engines or ones that have high PR.

Yes agreed that directory submission has lost its charm but when you are doing link building for new site it is suppose to be the best way to gain more and more links to the site.

I do agree that social poster is great and all but I would strongly suggest you use the websites that are high in pr and traffic and submit your articles to these only as the other social bookmarking sites are either no follow or useless in terms of traffic and you should be fine

While traffic from social sites is targeted, the best source of traffic is natural search traffic. Posting to social sites should be more for the link benefit rather than the traffic benefit. With more links coming in, natural search traffic will increase. Your natural search traffic will provide the action takers and sales producers. I have yet to see it otherwise.

Good article, I would also like to add “lots of anchor text” coming from places that Google values highly, including a handful of Forums (DP, for example), and take advantage of Do Follow free classified pages as well as Free local BBS.

you do make a great point there but be aware of taking full advantage of them just do them sparingly like one or 2 here and there from forums and not to do 4 or 5 of them

Keep in mind that not all social and bookmarking sites are do-follow. If you’re going to spend the time doing this, then use the Do-Follow (for SEO) submission feature at socialposter.com. This will save you time and ensure you’re only submitting to sites that allow do-follow links.

I agree social poster is great to use for submitting your content to social bookmarking sites but I would really just select the social bookmarking sites that have a high pr and targeted social bookmarking sites so it can greatly increase your serps as their the most important ones.

Most of the Do-Follow sites are going to have high PR. If not, you can easily skip over them with the handy frame submit, which I highly recommend.

I want to be on the first page of Google for a specific title that focuses on my website. I am glad that i achieved my Google. I did directory submission, blog posting and social bookmarking. I think this things are powerful but linking to .edu and .gov is still the best.

I believe social bookmarking is not really useful if those social bookmarking is not do follow. One thing also need to remember that our link will easy to disappear because it push deeper and search engine will no longer find it.
