When you are trying to make money with articles, the beauty of it is that you don’t really need previous career related experience and that you can learn the ropes as you go. That being said, there are some skills that you will need to teach yourself or pick up along the way to make your sites successful. You can’t go in not knowing anything, not learning anything, and still expect to make a good income (or any income at all).
First, you will need to know how to pick out the correct articles to make your sites or blogs successful. There are many types of content, from free content to high dollar content, and each comes with its own advantages and disadvantages (although high dollar content is more likely to give you a successful site or blog in the end).
Second, you will need to know how to choose keywords that can help you get a good amount of traffic, without being too competitive to get on the first or second page. If you choose highly competitive keywords that are used by large, mammoth website, you are likely to never get up to those much needed first two pages.
Third, you will need to know how to optimize your websites for various search engines. Search engine optimization skills will allow you to get high rankings for your chosen niche keywords, which will help to get visitors and make profit.
Fourth, if you opt for a large website that you will focus most of your internet marketing career on, you will also need to know how to market your website or blog to your intended audience through paid banner ads and text links. If you prefer very small 2-5 page niche blogs, then promoting all of them this way will not be cost effective and will eat up more profits than it is worth.
If you can capture some of these skills and attack them aggressively during your first few small websites and blogs or the first few months of a larger website, then you will eventually become an expert. Since you can learn the ropes first hand on your own, the only thing that you will need to do before you begin your new career is to read up on how to get started (maybe purchase an internet marketing e-book or two) and make sure that you have the funds available to start a small blog.

really good points. I did not know too much about SEO until recently and slowly, my pages have started to rank better. Also, that second point is true, picking the right keywords is trial and error but worth the time and effort!

I think text ad is not really worth your investment. Banner ads, in my experience is more successful. Most readers like to see what they’re click on so in my case, text ad doesn’t work.

The great thing about being able to make money online is that you do not need to know everything (nobody ever will). All you need to know is SOMETHING and that something will have to be more than what a number of other people know.
If you know how to setup a blog you are already ahead of millions of people around the world and you can benefit from that knowledge. The more you learn the more knowledge can be sold to the people that don’t have it. Simple but effective!!

I agree, writing skills are ultimately what will move your blog forward. But you can’t write in a forest because no one will hear you. You need to get out there and pimp quality work.

Depending on how soon you’ll run out of money it might not be the best option to target niche websites. If you know a lot about what to do and how to do it you might be able to make some profits fairly quickly but if not you might want to look for a job and build the niche sites in your spare time. It’s not to take away your hope but I know it can be rather painful to hit the point where you NEED the money but still don’t have them.

Good tips on how to make money by writing article, I think the only critical step is choosing the right niche and optimize the keyword, other than these, you could be able to make money with your articles even thought it’s only 5 pages.

First, I got to be honest with you, I’m seriously lazy… lazy in learning technical stuff like SEO and all those coding stuff, I bet most of the people hate to handle all this.
SEO to me, I’m not sure , but in my opinion, is not the most important of all, since I strongly believe in great content is still the king in the entire Internet kingdom.

I could never make money from ‘articles’ posted on other sites. Though articles on my blogs have managed to make me money from adsense / affiliate software sales and if the blog gets decent traffic (even from long tail keywords), it becomes easy to sell banner ads.
But ‘making money from articles’ is something that’s still eluding me.

Well that’s encouraging that you don’t need much experience, all though you do need intelligence and uniqueness. If making money were as simple as starting a blog and putting ads up, or writing post, then everybody would be doing it. Well actually.. Everybody is doing it, just very few are succeeding. The key to succeeding, is being able to find the next big thing and writing about it, or making it up yourself. Foresight is the mark of an online entrepreneur.

They have reached a miestone where they only worry about increasing the sales and better the monetization of their blogs. But for new bloggers, quality does matter. A great article will easily get selected for ezine articles n relatives.
