Take a closer second look at all the probloggers, what do they have in common? A well drafted ‘About Me’ page and a contact form page. Why is it important?
Having a contact forms page allows your reader to reach you with the least effort needed and thus encouraging them to contact you for any concerning matters. If you’re selling advertising spaces on your blog, a contact form would definitely make it much easier for you to close a deal. If your potential advertiser sees only an e-mail, he or she would probably can’t be bothered to open up their email and send the message, you just lost a sale.
Your readers can also share something with you privately or highlight a matter to you which you won’t want them to appear in the comment section. For example, I have had problems with Askimet recently and these contact forms on the different blogs actually made it easier for me to notify the bloggers to check for my comments in case they went to spam. Adding a contact page is easier than ABC!
Head over to deliciousdays and download the plugin if you’re using wordpress.
Having an about me page is more of an art because it requires some planning when writing this page. It may be the shortest thing you ever wrote, but you would realise its actually difficult to write something about yourself, especially something good. It doesn’t have to be long, but it has to do all the promotion for you within that short passage. I would suggest you guys head over to Darren Rowse’s blog to read more on “How To Write Your About Me Page“.
Adding to those points mentioned by Darren, I think its very important and advisable to throw in a photo of yours. Trust me, picture paints a thousand word. Your readers will feel closer to you when you they read about you this way and you have nothing to be shy about that.
Right, go do some work if you have missed out these two big points!

I totaly agree with you ben. i would like to comment on “About Me” page, here the more specific and artistic you are you can attract more people. Agree with ben to have a picture of yourself. also i would say if you have attended some biggie event and you have your presence picture for that event you must show off… what i believe this will surely give your readers impression that you are doing quite well in the stream which you are. what do you say ben?

These are two must have pages that every blog should have. I would at that you need a policy page and a site site map pade just so Google can pick you up much easier.
Reply to this comment
Yup sitemap is definitely a must for SEO purposes.. thats why I recommended google sitemap generator earlier on!

We could add “blogger’s name” to the must-have list. So many good blogs don’t even list the author’s name much less a way to contact him or her (even in the profile or about page if there is one). On some blogs I’ve wanted to contact the author, but there’s no way to do so–not even their name anywhere on the site. I’ve resorted to leaving a comment just to ask them to email or Twitter me.
So please, include your name prominently on your blog.

About me page is certainly important so that your readers will know your area of expertise and why they should follow your blog. It is only reasonable to add in a contact page to clear any doubts of advertiser as well as readers. Great reminder to the rest Ben.

Even when you’re looking at a more conventional web page layout the “contact us” page is totally indispensible, and very few of our customer sites go out without and “about us” page.

Oh, I don’t know why, but when I know who the author of the blog is and when I see the picture of the author, I feel more “safer”. Well that’s a part of marketing, I must say, but it really is true. It just shows that you don’t have anything to hide.
About contact me page – had problems once contacting a blogger who had a contact form that required me to fill the “characters from a picture”, the spam prevent, well I couldn’t read the letters that were in the picture, and I just couldn’t send him my offer. even after millions times of refreshing the page, it had unreadable characters.
Cheers,

I have an “about-page” on my blog. It´s good to have some information explaining a little what the blog is about, tell something about your self and so on.The more people know about the person behind the blog, the better it is.
I have also a “guest-post” -page on my blog where people can submit a post that I publish on my blog.Off course, there are some rules of what kind of post will be accepted. This is a good way to get fresh content for free, and the writer get´s links back to their site.
